I was a Non-Blonde Cheerleader by Kieran Scott

As a brunette on the all-blonde cheerleading squad at her new Florida high school, sophomore Annisa Gobrowski tries to fit in with her popular (and nasty) teammates without losing the friendship of Bethany, the only other non-blonde at the school.

Cute- quick light read, good for a summer's day on the beach :) I really enjoyed Annisa's character- she was sharp, witty and amusing. The story was predictable, but was still enjoyable.

Raina's Story by Lurlene McDaniel

Raina, Kathleen, and Holly continue to volunteer at the hospital. Things are looking good for Raina, until her ex-boyfriend Tony shows up in town revealing a secret that will threaten her relationship with her new boyfriend and love, Hunter. After Raina learns that she is a perfect match for donating bone marrow to a leukemia patient in Virginia, she discovers that the young woman is the sister she never knew she had.

Not up to her normal standards. Not nearly as sad or as moving. Plus, she jumps around too much between Raina, Holly, and Kathleen. I felt that there was too much of the other girls (including narration from their perspective) too be in a book called Kathleen's story.

All-American Girl by Meg Cabot (audio)

Feisty, red-haired Samantha, a self-described "urban rebel" who has dyed all of her clothes black, is a middle child, wedged between her popular older sister, Lucy, and her brainy younger sister, Rebecca. Samantha has a major crush on Jack, Lucy's nonconformistartist boyfriend, whom she feels is far better suited to her than to her sister. Sam's life suddenly changes when, while standing on the sidewalk one afternoon, she foils an attempt to assassinate the President. She becomes a national hero overnight and is named teen ambassador to the United Nations.

This is probably one of the better audio books I've listened to recently. Adriadne Meyers is very convincing as Sam. Her voice really brings Sam's character to life- and just as I pictured her sounding. The story is funny and fresh and I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel which is coming out this summer.

Prey (The Wereling #2) by Stephen Cole

Tom and Katie, having temporarily escaped Katie's evil mother, have come to New York in hopes of finding the one man they believe can restore Tom's humanity. They soon find, however, that New York is far more dangerous then they expected. Gang members, homeless, street kids are being recruited to join an army unlike any the world has seen.

What a wonderful sequel to Wounded! The face-paced action, horror, intrigue, plot twists, and hints of romance will keep any reader's attention. This series will be great for any reader who is interested in the supernatural, or just likes good horror stories.

Wounded (The Wereling #1) by Stephen Cole

While on a family vacation, 16-year-old Tom Anderson has a terrifying run-in with a bear that sends him hurtling down rapids in a river, barely escaping with his life. When he wakes up, he discovers that he is being cared for by Marcie, a nurse who lives in the remote woods. Soon the teen starts to sense that something strange is going on. Not only is he feeling weird (heightened senses and a strange craving for raw meat), but also Marcie's daughter, Kate, seems to be trying to tell him something. And then one night he learns the shocking truth: the Folans are werewolves, and they have been trying to turn him into a mate for Kate. After a violent scene that leaves Kate's little brother dead, Tom and Kate flee for their lives. They must reach a witch doctor in New Orleans who can turn him back to human, but they must hurry, because the countrywide network of werewolves is hot on their trail.

This book is great! It took me a little bit to get into the story, but once I did I was hooked. There is lots of action and adventure, plus the constant feeling that Kate's mother Marcie is right behind them ready to exact her revenge. This series will be great for teens who enjoy supernatural elements or horror stories.
