Jessica Darling is having a terrible year. Her best friend Hope moves away, leaving Jessica with friends that she is not all that crazy about. Her ex-boyfriend Scotty follows her around and still has feelings for her (even though they only dated for eleven days- three years ago), and to top it off Marcus Flutie, the school druggie, and selected her for the recipient of his mind games. Even though Jessica can be slightly annoying at times, her voice is funny and unique and the book is an enjoyable read. The book is chalk full of all the teen angst and drama that fills high school life.
