Ella, nicknamed Ella Mental by her friends, keeps a guide of things that she considers good sense. Ella is down to earth, pratical, with a strong sense of morality. When her friends get into trouble, Ella does her best to assist them while putting off her own problem- her feelings for her best friend Toby. Ella is a likeable narrator- funny and unique. The story is light-hearted but contains more serious plot elements and is a quick enjoyable read.
