Bloodlust (Vampire Beach #1) by Alex Duval
Jason Freeman has relocated with his family from Michigan to the exclusive DeVere Heights in Malibu. Jason is taken in by the elite crowd and is attending the best parties and having the time of his life. Jason soon realizes that the elite crowd are not your typical teens when a girl washes ashore dead after a party. They are all vampires and someone has gone rogue, consumed by bloodlust. This first book in the new Vampire Beach series is a page turner, readers will want to find out what happens. The problem with the book, however, is that it is too short, there is not enough conflict and it is resolved too quickly. It is 104 pages into a 196 page book before the girl turns up dead. The characters are likeable, even the vampires. The book has it all, a little bit of romance, mystery, supernatural elements, but not a lot of horror. Fans of vampire horror are not going to find it here, but those who like stories featuring vampires will enjoy the first book in this series. The series contains sex, partying, and alcohol so is more suitable for older teens.
