Pants on Fire by Meg Cabot
Katie Ellison's life is very complicated, largely because it is full of lies. To most people, she is the girlfriend of the star of the football team, best friend of the most beautiful girl at school, and will certainly place at the Quahog Princess pagent. In reality, she is cheating on her boyfriend, hates quahogs, and doesn't like football. While Katie's life is complicated, it runs along smoothly until her old friend Tommy Sullivan returns to town and Katie fears that her perfect life she built on lies will suddenly come crashing down. Cabot's newest novel is another quick "chick lit" read that will appeal to fans of her novels. Her character and plot, however, lack the depth and humor that fans have come to expect from Cabot. Katie is largely unlikeable and difficult to connect with or feel any sympathy for. The ending is largely predictable.
